Professor Frédéric Amant, MD, PhD (°1967), is a leading specialist in gynaecological oncology, Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Leuven, Belgium, and a specialist in Gynecologic Oncology in UZ Gasthuisberg. He has been described by The Lancet as ‘leading the agenda on cancer in pregnancy’.
Dr Amant is the principal investigator of an international study on cancer in pregnancy (www.cancerinpregnancy.org), and lead author of the recent series on malignancy in pregnancy published in The Lancet and Lancet Oncology, which presented new evidence on the treatment of cancer during pregnancy.
He is also Chair of the taskforce of the European Society of Gynecologic Oncology on cancer in pregnancy, a member of the Endometrium Tumor Site Committee of the EORTC (European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer), Gynecologic Cancer Group, and co-chair of ENITEC (European Network Individualized Treatment Endometrial Cancer).
