Dr Jean Kagia, MBCHB(NBI), M Med OBS/GYNE, is one of Kenya’s best-known Obstetrician-Gynaecologist and has worked in Nairobi for almost 30 years, where she also acts as Trustee for the Kenya Medical Women’s Association.
She has led private and public initiatives in improving maternal outcomes and last year was awarded by the Kenya Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society for improving women’s health.
One of those initiatives has been Kiotas (nests) or maternal shelter for women, which she hopes to make available in all 47 counties in Kenya. Dr Kagia is an advocate for economic empowerment of African women and for excellence in universal maternal healthcare.
